Leslie Stall Widener has signed on to illustrate Gerald Fierst's Imagine the Moon, a picture book introducing children to the lunar calendar. Its two-tier format will include sidebars for elementary students elaborating on cross-curriculum applications of the STEM concepts introduced with each month's moon. Imagine the Moon is scheduled for publication in the spring of 2017.
Leslie, who lives and works in McKinney, Texas, was born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, a legacy of her maternal grandmother. She has illustrated for numerous educational publishers and children's magazines. Her portfolio includes three books for young readers, including Greg Rodgers' Chukfi Rabbit's Big, Bad Bellyache, which received a starred review in The Kirkus Reviews and was selected for the Alaska Spirit of Reading program.
